Project Overview
We built a global OTT streaming platform for a media company serving 50M+ monthly active viewers across 100+ countries. The platform uses a multi-CDN architecture with intelligent traffic routing, adaptive bitrate streaming with per-title encoding optimization, and real-time content personalization. The system handles 10M+ concurrent viewers during live events with sub-2-second startup time and 99.99% streaming reliability.
The Challenge
The media company's existing streaming infrastructure had frequent buffering issues during peak events, long startup delays in emerging markets, and no ability to personalize content recommendations. Rights management across 100+ countries required complex geo-blocking that added latency. The legacy single-CDN approach couldn't scale for global live events.
Our Solution
We implemented a multi-CDN architecture with real-time traffic steering based on viewer location, ISP performance, and current CDN load. Per-title encoding optimization selects the optimal bitrate ladder for each piece of content. Edge computing nodes handle geo-verification and content personalization with zero added latency.
